Joel Haines, Infant Developmental Movement Instructor

Joel (BFA Dance, MSW, RSME, IDME) has been a Registered Somatic Movement Educator since 2010 by the School for Body-Mind Centering(TM) as well as a Certified Infant Developmental Movement Educator by the same school.

Joel has 12+ years working in education and caregiving with children ages 0-8 (including teaching English abroad, behavioral therapy with children with autism, and in a Reggio-Emilia inspired school). He earned an MSW in 2014, with an internship specializing in ages 0-5. His current full time work includes part time nannying and part time teaching in a toddler room at Scuola Creativa in Royal Oak.

Joel has a deep appreciation for the rich non-verbal wisdom he observes in infant movement, and considers infants to be among his greatest teachers. Outside of work, Joel's on-going interests include getting out into nature in all seasons, delving into body-based somatic explorations, and deeply enjoying friends, family, and community.
